Tri-County Ramp Initiative (Partner Ministry)

Tri-County Ramp Initiative is a nonprofit founded by members of Shiner First United Methodist Church. This outreach grew out of United Methodist Men and continues to reflect a strong ministry focus—serving individuals in Lavaca, DeWitt, and Gonzales counties by building accessibility ramps. The initiative partners with the Texas Ramp Project to provide funding and referrals.

Our Story

In 2019, members of our church became aware of a critical need in the community—many individuals were unable to safely access their own homes due to physical limitations. That need led to the formation of a volunteer build team working alongside the Texas Ramp Project (TRP).
Over time, the effort expanded into the Tri-County Ramp Initiative, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit committed to continuing this important work. Even through funding challenges and growth, the mission has remained the same:
serve others by improving quality of life through practical, hands-on ministry.

How it works

  • Most ramps are funded and referred through the Texas Ramp Project, a statewide nonprofit with over 40 years of experience

  • Volunteers from our church and the community build ramps for qualified individuals

  • Additional support has come from organizations in the community as well.

Community Impact

  • Dozens of ramps are built each year across the tri-county area

  • Each ramp provides safe, independent access to a home

  • The program has grown into a truly community-wide effort, supported by churches, civic groups, and volunteers
